Reform Party Holds Balance of Power in Historic House Shakeup
Ivanka Trump·

National pollsters project a hung House of Representatives following the 1992 elections, with no party reaching the 218 seats needed for a majority. Current projections show Republicans winning 207 seats, Democrats 173, the Reform Party 51, Democratic Socialists 3, and one Independent. The results represent a dramatic collapse of the Democrats’ outgoing 268-seat majority and leave control of the chamber uncertain. While Republicans are projected to become the largest party, they remain 11 seats short of a majority. Political analysts agree the Reform Party will become the decisive force in organizing the next House. With 51 seats, Reform lawmakers are expected to determine which party secures the Speakership and controls committee leadership. “Neither party can govern without Reform support,” one analyst noted. “They now hold the keys to House control.”
