A Concession and Plans for the Democratic Party's Future
Karl Freitag·

Detroit, MI – Speaking at an election night rally in front of supporters and party officials, Karl Freitag officially conceded the presidential race to the winner, Ross Perot of the Reform Party. Reflecting on the measly 68 EVs won by the Democratic Party, he stated; "We must do some soul-searching as a party. A dire overhaul is needed if we wish to remain relevant politically in the 2000s. I am therefore looking at future steps we could achieve, and as part that I may very well consider not participating in future presidential elections." Freitag also expressed hope in working with the new administration, noting that the Democrats would likely play the role of a moderating force in deliberating government policy and ensure that America continues to step forward for the benefit of its people. At the rally, he also hinted at a plan to reinvigorate the party. In the meantime, however, Freitag stated; "we await this administration's plans for America."
