Statement by Low Thia Khiang, Minister for Foreign Affairs, regarding Mr Neil Steen’s Post

As a agnostic man myself, Neil Steen’s statement is truly disturbing. To slander the Taoiseach with lies about his background while calling Ireland a forever Catholic nation, it is a spat in the face of other religious minorities in our great nation. Neil Steen explicitly advocated for ending the “laissez-faire approach to religion”. You know why we are laissez-faire on religion? Because thats is not the state’s job. Separation between church and state is one of the most important things that protect freedom of religion for all Irish men and women. The poster he is posting up is worrying too. “Face the Wraths of God”, is Mr. Steen really going to condemn his fellow Irishmen based on religion alone? We do not need to deal with a party that actively suggests theocracy. No wonder why they only got 4 seats this election, the people of Ireland are fully against such extremist rhetoric, and we will continue to work for Ireland as some continue their pitiful attempts at political power.
