As we enter the new century, Germany is stronger than ever. GDP has grown by 6.5%, unemployment has fallen from 16% to 2%, national debt has been eliminated, and the federal budget is now running a surplus. Our social policies have improved quality of life and reinforced fiscal stability. With these foundations in place, Germany is ready to expand its trade partnerships, strengthen diplomatic ties, and play a greater role on the world stage in the century ahead."
