The Woman Republicans Can’t Stand

Few politicians have tormented the GOP quite like Ivanka Trump. Now nominated for Secretary of Veterans Affairs by President Karl Freitag, the former Reform Secretary of State is again drawing Republican opposition — and again reminding voters why Republicans resent her. Ivanka repaired U.S.-Irish relations after Melania Trump damaged them, brought Ireland into NATO, and secured trade deals with Ireland and Japan. She also humiliated Melania over diplomatic incompetence and championed education reform that left a permanent stain on Polk’s presidency. To Republicans, Ivanka is every 1990s defeat in human form: Reform’s rise, Perot’s victory, Polk’s embarrassment, and Melania’s collapse. The irony is sharp. Every GOP “nay” does not weaken her record — it advertises it.
