Conservatives on course for historic landslide as Gilbert set for third term
Ashton Gilbert·

Prime Minister Ashton Gilbert is on course to secure a historic third term in Downing Street, according to the 2002 General Election exit poll. The poll projects the Conservatives will win 400 seats, up from the 381 they secured at the previous election, giving Gilbert a commanding majority of 151 in the House of Commons. Gilbert has remained one of Britain's most popular Prime Ministers throughout his second term, with voters consistently backing his record on the economy, public services and national security. Labour is forecast to win 111 seats, while the Liberal Democrats are projected to secure 92 seats nationally. However, the night is set to end in disappointment for the Liberal Democrats, with their own party leader projected to lose his own constituency seat. Broadcasters have stressed that the exit poll is a forecast, not a result.
