RISE OF THE AIP

The American Independent Party- a new party based in the Southern US- has been successful in its debut election to push for Southern representation. While the Reform, Democratic, and Republican parties were focused on attacking the party, the AIP prevailed in voter registration drives. The party has set itself up as a conservative alternative to mainline parties, who have continuously failed to deliver on their promises. It also has set itself in opposition to reform, who worked to destroy the party's infrastructure before it was able to gain popularity. This weekend, Chairman Pat Buchanan and National Campaigner James Thurmond were seen campaigning in Georgia, where they promised to "...defend our most fundamental rights from Washington politicians." Other winners were Marty Goldman, who lead the charge in Florida, and business mogul Kenneth Lay won in Virginia. Senator James Polk and Representative Kimberly Guilfoyle defected from the Republican party and aided in the push.
