As the newly elected Chairman of the Free Democratic Party (FDP), I am committed to advancing a policy of economic liberalisation. While I respect the CDU's view that strategic state ownership protects key sectors from exploitation, I believe Germany can unlock greater economic potential by expanding market openness and strengthening trade and investment with partners such as the United States and the United Kingdom. Such progress should be pursued through balanced, mutually beneficial negotiations that safeguard Germany's national interests while promoting sustainable economic growth.
