A family has discovered they spent three years caring for an alligator, believing it was their grandfather. They claim the confusion arose because the woman’s father “looks remarkably similar” to the animal. They fed him low-fat meals, checked his blood pressure and even took him on daily walks. The truth emerged when they received a postcard from the real grandfather, who had been on holiday in India. When contacted, he said: “Yes, actually... I’ve forgotten what I was going to say.” The alligator commented: “They treated me like a king. I hope to be an old man in my next life.
